'Take this guy out!' Top US senator calls for Russians to assassinate Vladimir Putin

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham appeared on Fox News’ Hannity show to call for Vladimir Putin to be “taken out” after reports from Ukraine found Russian forces had shelled a nuclear power plant.

Mr Graham, who was first elected to Congress in 2003, even said: “Somebody in Russia has to step up to the plate.

“Is there a Brutus in Russia?

“Is there a more successful Colonel Stauffenberg in the Russian military?”

“The only way this s**t ends my friends is for somebody in Russia to take this guy out.”

He added: “You would be doing your country a great service and the world a great service.”

The historical reference was made in relation to Brutus who was best known for assassinating Julius Caesar in Ancient Rome.

Whereas, Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg unsuccessfully attempted to kill the Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.

Colon Stauffenberg was subsequently executed for his attempt to take out the then German Chancellor.
