Liverpool vs Inter Milan player ratings as Salah and Firmino give Reds key advantage

Mohamed Salah – 6

Liverpool’s star man endured another quiet night in the San Siro before he struck right at the death to make the game safe.

The Reds talisman isn’t quite back to his usual standards after his exploits at the AFCON, but his last-gasp strike should give him a much-needed boost.

Diogo Jota – 5

Jota made a lively start to the match and led the Reds press admirably, but he struggled to trouble the Inter rearguard at all and faded badly.

He was withdrawn at the break after failing to get in the the game.

Liverpool substitutes:

Roberto Firmino (Diogo Jota, 45) – 7

Klopp called on his trusted attacking lieutenant to try and rouse Liverpool from their attacking slumber after Jota’s ineffective display – and he delivered with an exquisite header to send the Reds back to Anfield with a slender advantage ahead of the second leg.

Jordan Henderson (Harvey Elliott, 59) – 6

The Reds skipper was called upon to shore up the Reds in the wake of Inter’s improvement after the break. Did his job in the middle.

Naby Keita (Fabinho, 59) – 6

Provided some much needed energy just when Liverpool needed it most in the middle of the park.

Luis Diaz (Sadio Mane, 59) – 6

Liverpool’s new boy was thrust into the action on the hour mark for the ineffective Mane and he immediately gave Dumfries issues.
