Sofa maker Snug hailed record sales in 2021 as the pandemic pushed furniture shoppers online. 

The ‘sofa in a box’ brand said its next day delivery service helped it to steal customers from rivals at the end of the year as supply chain chaos delayed deliveries ahead of Christmas.

Sales jumped from £7.1m in 2020 to £31.6m in 2021. In the last three months of the year it sold £10.1m of furniture, more than all of 2020. Snug, founded in 2018, sells sofas online that are delivered in a box in as little as a day and can be assembled in three minutes. 

The company’s customers are younger professionals in big cities and towns looking for convenience.

 Founder Rob Bridgman, 33, comes from a family of sofa makers dating back to the 1940s. His father Peter founded high end furniture sellers Bridgman in the 1970s.
