DIY couple saved money transforming kitchen with budget worktops – 'can't beat the price'

Becca Larkin and her partner Jordan renovated a bungalow, transforming the property and documenting the process on the account @renovationliving. Embracing dark colours and brassy finishes, the pair created a contemporary home.

The couple knocked through a wall in the home, to make an open plan kitchen and living space.

They had a £30,000 budget for their total renovation, monitoring their spending on a spreadsheet.

Becca Larkin wrote to her almost 30k Instagram followers: “Our gorg @howdensjoinery kitchen is complete and I AM IN LUV.”

The couple transformed a tired old kitchen with burgundy tiles and magnolia walls into a modern masterpiece.

Becca said: “I’m so happy with our decision to get a black kitchen with brass details, this kitchen makes me never want to move! Saying that, I will probably do our kitchen the exact same in the next house.”

To complement the kitchen, the couple added brass plug sockets.

The couple opted for budget worktops from Ikea with only a £550 price tag.

In their pantry, the couple looked to Marks & Spencers to help them arrange their homeware.

Charlotte Summers has shared the amazing transformation of a box room into a much larger upstairs hallway.

The space, originally dark and dated, is now a bright office space packed with storage.

Charlotte describes her style as a “monochrome, classic, contemporary twist” and loves neutral tones and classic features.

She went on: “I would say our open plan hallway/study area is up there with one of the best decisions we have made in our home renovation.”
