Strictly Come Dancing winner Rose, who has been deaf from birth, is backing the BSL Bill to make it an official language.
The Bill, brought by MP Rosie Cooper, who grew up with profoundly deaf parents, is supported by groups including the British Deaf Association, the Royal National Institute for Deaf People.
EastEnders actress Rose, 27, who is on the Strictly live tour, said yesterday she was “proud” to have encouraged organisers to have BSL interpreters at shows. Rose, who played
Frankie Lewis in EastEnders until last year, said: “Hopefully it will influence other companies to do the same.”
West Lancashire MP Ms Cooper said: “Rose Ayling-Ellis has brought this incredibly important issue into every living room while she conquered Strictly Come Dancing.
“I am really hopeful we can get this Bill past the finish line and truly make a difference to people’s lives.”
