Manchester United winger Amad Diallo is in Scotland to undergo a medical ahead of signing for Rangers on a six-month loan deal.

The 19-year old joined United from Atalanta in a deal worth up to £37million and was due to join Feyenoord on a season-long loan back in September.

However an injury picked up in training put paid to that and the club have been looking for another temporary move away.

Wayne Rooney’s Derby County had made a request to take him but their plight made any deal difficult.

United had been keen for him to stay in the UK rather than go abroad and hope a move to Rangers can give him the right environment to kick on.

Rangers are top of the Scottish Premiership and face Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst is pushing for silverware in his first season in charge and Diallo is seen as a coup for the Ibrox club and they hope the skilful forward can have an immediate impact.

The 19-year-old has featured just nine times in all competitions for United’s senior squad scoring one goal.

This season, Diallo played 68 minutes in the 1-1 draw against Young Boys in the Champions League and was an unused sub in the 3-2 win over Arsenal in the Premier League.

Diallo’s contract at Old Trafford runs until 2025 and United hope a spell out on loan will help develop him into a regular member of the first-team squad.
