Daniil Medvedev draws strong boos from Australian Open crowd with Novak Djokovic comment

This year marks the first time all women’s semi-finals will be played on the Thursday and all men’s semi finals on the Friday at the Australian Open.

Happy to have a day off before his clash with the world No 4, Medvedev said: “It is a semi-final of a Grand Slam, so even if I am in the worst shape of my life I am going to fight my best and make it tough for my opponent.

“Stefanos is a tough player, we have had a lot of tough matches already. I hope to serve well and show my best tennis.”

And he gave an indication of how he was feeling after the almost-five hour, five-set marathon match when he signed on the camera before walking off court.

“Not tired,” he wrote on the lens, in what will come as bad news for the rest of the men’s draw as the world No 2 remains the favourite for the title.
