The competition takes place every year and has seen an increase in young competitors.
On the rules, Geraint added: “The judges will be looking at things like the neatness of the cuts, the finished height of the hedge, the tightness of the binding… laying down hawthorn and blackthorn is not everyone’s idea of a hobby, but some of these have been doing it for 40 years, or more so they know what they’re doing.”
The One Show hosts Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas were in awe of the Prince.
Alex added: “Isn’t it brilliant to invite all of those people to Highgrove and to really encourage them, the youngsters especially to get involved.”
