Jenny Connor (played by Sally Ann Matthews) and Leo Thompkins (Joe Frost) have been enjoying a romance over the last few months on the ITV soap Coronation Street, ever since her late husband Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley) died. At first, Jenny was reluctant to date a younger man was constantly thinking about the age difference between the two. Recently, Jenny took the plunge and decided to give things a go properly with Leo after he asked her to take their relationship to the next level. However, Leo could have ulterior motives, as Jenny moves him into her home after suffering an incident, without asking him for any rent money. Could this be the start of a scam from Leo in a big to get his hands on her deceased husband’s inheritance money?
In upcoming scenes, Carla Connor (Alison King) reminds Jenny that she promised Kate Connor (Faye Brookes) a share of Johnny’s money and that she seems to have abandoned her family in favour of her toyboy.
Carla calls in the Rovers and thanks Jenny for sorting out Kate’s money but goes on to say that she thinks Jenny’s relationship with Leo is inappropriate so soon after Johnny’s death.
Johnny drowned to his death in the Platt’s sinkhole during Super Soap Week in October 2021, as he was saving Jenny’s life.
When Jenny gets a call that Leo has been injured playing rugby, she is shocked and rushes to A&E, but she gets a bigger shock when she gets there.

Carla is far from fond of Leo due to their age gap but apologises and tells Jenny it’s clear Leo makes her happy and she should go for it.
After suggesting he move in with her whilst he recovered from his injuries, Jenny helps Leo in with his bags and explains to Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) that he’s moving in.
A downbeat Leo returns from work but soon returns home and announces that he’s been made redundant.
Jenny is sympathetic and, to Daisy’s annoyance, insists on cancelling his rent, but could this all be a part of Leo’s plan to get his hands on the money?
“But no one’s really saying anything, so she can kind of ignore it, but when Carla comes into the pub and tells Jenny that she still hasn’t sent the money, she promised Kate.
“[She] suggests it’s because she’s been a bit distracted by this young guy and whatever he’s after, then Jenny takes umbrage, and Carla and Jenny have a stand-up row.
“Even though Jenny’s really defiant, I think there’s a bit of her that’s worries that Carla’s right, this is ridiculous, I’m twice his age, I should end this.”
Sally continued: “It’s twofold, it’s other people sticking their oar in but also at the back of her mind there’s this reality check that she’s 21 years older than him and they’re at very different points in their lives.
“Yes, he’s saying this now, but he might change his mind tomorrow, so at the back of her mind, she doesn’t want to invest too much in case she gets hurt.
“But equally, it feels great, she’s listening to other people and not really trusting her own judgement because of this fundamental difference between them, the age gap.”
Could Jenny and Leo be over before they have even begun?
