Davina McCall jibes that John McEnroe 'not enough fun' to be Masked Singer contestant

Davina McCall, 54, might have caused some awkwardness on The Masked Singer tonight after she insinuated that tennis star John McEnroe, 62, was not enough fun to have put on the performance she just witnessed. The judge’s comments were made after Bagpipes performed a lively rendition of Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus.

Tonight on The Masked Singer, Bagpipes delivered an energy-packed performance backed by a host of tartan-clad dancers.

On the judging panel, both Jonathan Ross, 61, and Davina believed they knew who might be hiding behind the mask.

However, a disagreement soon broke out when Davina questioned how “fun” one of their celebrity guesses might be.

When presenter Joel Dommett, 36, asked for the judging panel’s thoughts on the singer, Jonathan replied: “I am 100 per cent certain I know who is in that tartan onesie. Let’s hear what the losers have to say and then come to me.”

Davina then confirmed that she too believed she had cracked the code.

She told Joel: “It’s somebody who plays tennis for a living and clearly music is your other absolute passion, and that’s why you are on this show.

“Last time, I thought it could be John McEnroe, but you’re too much fun. It’s not John McEnroe, it’s Pat Cash.”

Pat Cash, 56, is another former professional tennis champion hailing from Australia.

Jonathan insisted that Bagpipes was in fact John McEnroe, to which Divina said, “Please be Pat Cash! Please!”

Trying to get a reaction out of the masked performer, Jonathan claimed, “I played John McEnroe once, and I beat him.

“You can see he is furious,” Jonathan joked as the masked figure shook in mock anger.

Later on in the show, Bagpipes was forced to face Poodle as they were placed in the bottom two for a sing-off.
