Weight loss: Woman lost huge 8st in just five months – ‘such a confidence boost’

Amymay is active on social media and shares snippets of her weight loss transformation with her 4,600 followers on her TikTok account. Last year, Amymay decided to have a mini gastric bypass which kickstarted her weight loss journey.

The mini gastric bypass procedure helps slimmers to lose weight in two ways.

The first is by dramatically reducing the amount of food that can be eaten at one time to a healthy portion size, while the other is by decreasing the number of calories that the body absorbs from food.

The latter works as a result of bypassing 150 to 200cm of the upper part of the small intestine.

Every individual’s mini gastric bypass result will vary, but most patients can expect to shed around half of their extra weight six months after the procedure.

After a year, slimmers can expect to lose upwards of 65 percent of extra pounds.

Amymay had her mini gastric bypass operation in July 2021 and has lost a whopping eight stone since then.

In her TikTok videos, Amymay explains how her confidence has started to build up again due to her transformation.

She told Express.co.uk that she had always been self-conscious about her weight, but now things were starting to change.

Amymay said: “I’ve been conscious of my weight for as long as I remember.

“So that equates to decades.

“I remember shying away from cameras and constantly being self-conscious.”

Before her operation, Amymay tried other ways of losing weight, but nothing seemed to work.

“I tried all of the diets under the sun, as well as exercise and therapy,” she said.

“I decided to undergo the treatment because of my excessive weight gain after so many years of failed dieting and a poor relationship with food.

“Being a busy mum of two young boys, my health had to take priority in order to be here for their future.”

Surgery is not something recommended for everyone and each person should consider their options carefully. However, Amymay added she had “no regrets” about her procedure.

She said: “I feel fantastic.

“My outlook on life and mental well-being has sky-rocketed.

“I have such clarity of mind now that I am not constantly consumed with food and my body image.

“The weight loss is unbelievable at times.

“My journey has been quite straight forward and it’s hard to get my head around the fact I’ve lost the equivalent of a person since surgery.”

Amymay added: “Physically, I am now able to play with my children, walk without pain and dance the night away in heals once again.

“It has given me such a confidence boost. I am so grateful for it.”
