Doctor Strange 2 first reactions 'very positive – huge cameos, one is fan dream come true'

Marvel fans who stuck around at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home will have been treated to a post-credits scene that ended up being the first trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The mysterious sequel to Benedict Cumberbatch’s 2016 solo debut sees the Marvel sorcerer co-starring with Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch in some sort of battle across multiple realties. The blockbuster isn’t released until May but Disney often have in-house test screenings to prevent leaks and allegedly one took place for Doctor Strange 2 last night. WARNING: POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD.

Beyond the Trailer’s Grace Randolph tweeted: “MCU screening was Doctor Strange 2 and I’m hearing very positive feedback from several sources! Wanda is STILL villain and is NOT watered down! America Chavez is definitely LGBT and they show her parents…I hear the Wanda vs Doctor Strange fight is [fire and shock emojis].”

The first poster for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness appears to be teasing variants of the Marvel wizard and witch. Fans will remember the trailer ended with Strange Supreme but perhaps this villainous Wanda is a variant too. Although, let’s not forget that she was seen searching the multiverse for her children Wiccan and Speed at the end of WandaVision.

A fan commented: “What do you mean by not watered down? Like did they fix the stuff we were worried about without making her boring? Is that what u mean or did they leave her untouched.” To which Grace replied: “She still kills a bunch of people”.

As for Xochitl’s Gomez’s America Chavez, she’s a Latin-American lesbian with inter-dimensional powers who joined the Young Avengers in the comics. Aside from this news, Grace had some exciting things to report about those rumoured non-MCU superhero cameos too.

Grace tweeted: “LOTS of major awesome cameos. Ooh yeah! Movie’s back on track! [after reshoots]. One cameo is so amazing – fan dream come true – I know it’s gonna leak which is [sad]. This is a cameo NOBODY has reported yet, so I hope everyone holds back and doesn’t ruin it.”

So just who could it be? There have been tons of rumoured Fox and Sony characters to feature in Doctor Strange 2 already and after Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield showed up in Spider-Man: No Way Home it feels like anything is possible.

Considering Marvel Studios now own the rights to the Fox superheroes and have a deal with Sony for their characters to be the MCU movies, we’re talking anyone from the Spider-Man, X-Men, Deadpool and Fantastic Four Marvel films might show up. But if we’re going more niche, then there’s always Wesley Snipes’ Blade, Nicolas Cage’s Ghost Rider, Ben Affleck’s Daredevil or even Eric Bana’s Hulk.

On top of that, what about variants of MCU characters we’ve never seen before? There have been rumours of Tom Cruise playing Iron Man, Chris Evans’ HYDRA Captain America and Hayley Atwell’s Captain Carter.

Our personal choice? Just imagine if they bring back Edward Norton’s The Incredible Hulk only to retcon the second MCU movie as being set in an alternate reality.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits cinemas on May 6, 2022.
