Next James Bond odds: Another BBC star suddenly enters race challenging Tom Hardy and more

The bookies’ favourites for a long time have been the likes of stars like Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill and Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page, but maybe it’s the outsiders we should be focusing on? Whatever the case, Betway report that David Oyelowo, the star of BBC miniseries The Girl Before, has debuted at 16-1 among those with the best odds. The 45-year-old Brit played Martin Luther King in Selma, and Javert in the BBC’s 2018 adaptation of Les Misérables.

A spokesperson for the bookmakers said: “The market to be the Next James Bond has been open for a long time as rumours keep swirling around who will take over from Daniel Craig. The betting continues to be led by Rege-Jean Page, who is the current 2/1 favourite with Betway, following his breakout performance in Netflix’s Bridgerton. However, there are two new entries towards the head of the market after impressive performances on the BBC in recent times. Jamie Dornan is not only the central figure in the much talked about drama The Tourist, but he is also a contender for Award Season in Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast and is 16/1 from 50/1 to be the next 007. David Oyelowo makes his debut in the list at 16/1. His role as debonair, distant Edward in The Girl Before have many punters thinking he will be The Man After Daniel Craig. Those with a longer memory will recall that he has a history at MI5, playing ill-fated Danny Hunter in the early series of Spooks.”

Here are odds for the other next Bond favourites besides and ahead of Oyelowo.
