Aston Villa are considering a bid for Everton left-back Lucas Digne.
The France international is wanted by West Ham, Newcastle United and Chelsea but his £128,000 a week wages have been a stumbling block as clubs ponder offers for a player Everton value at £30m.
Villa want experience alongside their relatively young defence and 28-year-old Digne is on their list of options. They also hope to add a centre-back, winger and midfielder with Brighton’s Yves Bissouma one name under discussion.

Arsenal right-back Cedric Soares is wanted by Atletico Madrid as a replacement for Kieran Trippier. Atletico have asked about a loan with option to buy the 30-year-old Portugal international, but Arsenal ideally want a replacement of their own in first.
Roma have confirmed the signing of Ainsley Maitland-Niles who could cover that position. The 24-year-old will join on a straight loan, having completed a medical in the Italian capital on Friday.

Roma had wanted to include an option to purchase the midfielder on the loan’s expiration, but this was rebuffed. Arsenal also want to add a striker and midfielder this month while defender Pablo Mari could make a loan move away with Sampdoria showing interest.
Tottenham are looking to offer around £18m for Wolves winger Adama Traore. Wolves need cash this window with a centre-back their priority. Barcelona have been linked but do not have the finances to bid at this stage. AC Milan are showing interest in a loan for Spurs defender Japhet Tanganga.

Leeds United are in discussions over a new contract for midfielder Adam Forshaw. The 30-year-old has been in outstanding form since returning from long-standing injury. Leeds remain in the market for another midfielder on loan but Ross Barkley is looking to stay at Chelsea as it stands.
Meanwhile, Blackburn Rovers are trying to sign Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville on loan.
Bournemouth are talking over a £1m move for Blackburn Rovers midfielder Joe Rothwell who also has interest from Rangers.
