Ralf Little dismisses ‘horrible’ UK life after star bids farewell to Death in Paradise set

Death in Paradise star Ralf Little has relished the opportunity to work on location on the sunshine island of Guadeloupe, but some might say a little too much, as he ended up reluctant to arrive back home. He shared his disappointment after recently braving bitterly cold weather on British soil.

Clearly substituting palm trees for Christmas trees amid dramatically shrinking temperatures was not for Ralf.

“It’s horrible!” he gasped, following his return trip to reunite with family over the Christmas period.

“I hate to say this, but I’m over it.”

Carols and turkey roast dinners did little to warm Ralf’s spirits about being in the UK and instead, he reminisced about his working life in the sun.

The 41-year-old jetsetter has also been jetting backwards and forwards to sunny Florida, where his fiancee Lindsey Ferrentino lives.

The couple recently adopted rescue dogs from Guadeloupe together, which were sent to live with her family.

Sadly, one of the pups has now died after a road accident, news which Ralf presented to his Instagram followers last month while fighting back tears.

The dog, Suzie, had become a mascot for the show, which focuses on murder mystery plots.

While the UK might be used to Scandi-crime dramas, typically set in cold and bleak Northern European settings, it’s much less common to have a paradise island at the centre of this genre of show.

This year’s episodes include a sky diver murdered in mid-air, a sinister golf course owner with a secret – played by guest star Tamzin Outhwaite, formerly of EastEnders – a drama at a rehab centre, and more.

Ralf is looking forward to the challenge of portraying “hypochondriac” DI Neville Parker for another round.

The first episode of series 11 is set to air tonight at 9pm tonight on BBC One.
