PlayStation Plus January 2022 free games: Good news for PS4 and PS5 gamers

Deep Rock Galactic is now available to download on PS4 and PS5 consoles and looks to be a sure-fire hit with fans.

With its unique playstyle and setting, there are plenty of PlayStation Plus subscribers battling it out in the dark against giant Aranchids since the new free titles went live in January.

But there have been some teething problems that have stopped a few PlayStation owners from continuing their journey.

Issues with the server lists not functioning as they should and players being unable to connect with friends and snap up the free DLC has led to a few problems.

But the good news for all PS Plus subscribers is that Deep Rock Galactic has received its first patch, and all of these issues have been fixed.

And while some fans are still limited by the localised languages available in-game, developers Coffee Stain Studios has confirmed they will be adding more in the future.

Available to download now from the PlayStation Store, PS Plus subscribers can claim Persona 5 Strikers, Dirt 5 and Deep Rock Galactic until early February 2022.

The Persona 5 spinoff is viewed as a cross between the Atlus role-playing game and Dynasty Warriors, featuring the latter’s hack and slash gameplay.

Meanwhile, Dirt 5 will be playable on PlayStation 4 and PS5, with the rally racing game featuring multiple race styles and arcade gameplay.

The third and final PlayStation Plus game is Deep Rock Galactic, a co-op shooter in which a host of badass space Dwarves battle alien invaders.

“Work together as a team to dig, explore, and fight your way through a massive cave system filled with hordes of deadly enemies and valuable resources.

“You will need to rely on your teammates if you want to survive the most hostile cave systems in the galaxy!”

The game has “overwhelmingly positive” reviews on Steam, where fans praise its intuitive communication system and overall variety.

And as Deep Rock Galactic is not currently available on the PlayStation Store, this will make for a pretty strong debut on PS4 and PS5 consoles.

Meanwhile, some PS Plus subscribers have found themselves claiming a different lineup of free titles during January 2022.

According to gamers in some regions, Persona 5 Strikers has been removed and replaced by How to Survive 2, a game with much lower review scores.

The good news is that only some regions have been affected by this switch, and it is something that Sony warns can happen from time to time, telling fans:

“Different countries have different rights, release schedules and, as many of you know, have different things available in their PlayStation Store for this reason.

“We are constantly working to align our content globally, but to also ensure that our North American audience gets the content that is available to them as some games are released globally on different schedules.”
