Man, 19, shot dead by suspect who thought he was a Bloods member

A 19-year-old man was shot dead in Queens late Thursday by a gunman who believed he was a member of the Bloods gang, cops said. 

Cristobal Alfredo Ixquier Mejia, 19, was hanging outside 147th Place and Jamaica Avenue in Jamaica, possibly drinking, just before 10 p.m. when two people approached, police said. 

Ixquier Mejia was wearing a red jacket, prompting the duo to ask him if he was a Blood, cops said. 

Then one of the men opened fire, striking him in the chest, cops said. 

Ixquier Mejia, who lived about a half-mile from the scene, was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, cops said. 

Hours later, around 1:45 a.m. Friday, cops busted 20-year-old Shareese Smith, of Brooklyn, in connection to the slaying, police said.

He was charged with murder and weapons possession charges, police said.

It was unclear Friday morning whether either the victim or suspect had gang affiliations.

The incident came hours after 35-year-old Jose Garcia man was gunned down inside a Bronx public housing complex on Thursday night, police said.

Garcia was shot multiple times in the torso in the 9th-floor hallway of NYCHA’s Monterey/Twin Parks Houses in Belmont at about 6:44 p.m., authorities said. 

He was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital and pronounced dead, cops said.

No arrests had been made by Friday morning, and police did not provide any suspect descriptions.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting remained unclear. 

Another shooting was reported in the Bronx early Friday, cops said.

A man was blasted in the chest and wrist on Boston Road near Bishop Arthur Jones Place in Charlotte Gardens around 1:30 a.m., cops said. 

He was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and was “highly uncooperative” with investigators, police said.
