'Claude Littner's had a difficult time' Karren Brady in update on co-star post accident

The Apprentice’s Karren Brady has given an update on her co-host nearly a year after he suffered serious injuries while biking. The business executive, 52, lamented the absence of her co-star Claude Littner on the new series of the BBC show, which aired last night, as he continues to recover, admitting that he’s had a “difficult time” following the accident.

The businesswoman gave an update on her co-star, opening up on the issues he’s had following his accident last April.

This series of The Apprentice sees Lord Sugar, Karren, and the first-ever Apprentice winner Tim Campbell put 16 contestants through their paces.

Addressing Claude’s absence on the popular BBC programme, Karren said to OK! Magazine: “Obviously, we were so desperately disappointed that he wasn’t there but we were much more concerned about how he was.

“He had this terrible cycling accident, which has seen him have a number of operations.”

However, the mother-of-two added that the businessman is slowly recovering.

Karren continued: “The good is that Claude is on the mend,

“He’s had a difficult time, but he’s almost back to his best,” she added.

Last year, Lord Sugar took to Twitter to explain to his 5.2 million followers whether his co-star would be returning to the show following his accident.

He had to learn how to walk again after injuring his right leg so badly that he has required multiple surgeries, after revealing that doctors initially thought they may have to amputate his leg.

Recalling the incident, the 72-year-old businessman said: “I was just pottering along, I must have been doing no more than 10 kilometres an hour on this sort of two-track road.

“The next thing I knew, I was on the left hand side of the street, my bike was in the middle of the road and I didn’t know what happened.

“I suspect I hit a pothole or something like that.

“But, I must have blanked out at the moment of impact, because the next thing I knew, I was lying on the ground.”

Claude added he thought he would “just get up” and retrieve his bike, but swiftly realised he was seriously injured as a bone was sticking out of his leg.

Lord Sugar’s aide was rushed to the trauma unit at St Mary’s Hospital.

Claude added doctors had managed to save his leg following a long operation.

The Apprentice is on Thursdays at 9pm on BBC One.
