‘You will love it’: Mrs Hinch fans share ‘wonderful’ cleaning hack for bathtub stains

Cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch, otherwise known as Sophie Hinchliffe, became popular after sharing her cleaning recommendations and tips on social media and TV. The cleaning star has managed to gain over 4.1 million followers on Instagram. Fans of hers have now followed in her footsteps and created their own social media groups dedicated to cleaning and tidying tips, one of which includes hacks for removing stains from bathtubs.

Posting on the Mrs Hinch cleaning tips and tricks Facebook page, one woman asked how to remove stubborn yellow stains from her bathtub.

Facebook user Jenni Mackie posted: “Hi there, I need some help, been scrubbing the bath for ages and can’t seem to get these yellow stains out.

“I have tried bleach and Cif cream, it only seems to fade it.

“Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.”

“It has got rust stains off my stainless steel refrigerator and hair dye off of my bathtub.”

Jo Hudson wrote: “I’d agree with Bar Keepers Friend. It’s great stuff and works on all sorts.”

Other suggestions from fellow cleaning fanatics included using a magic eraser, white vinegar, bicarbonate of soda and toothpaste.

Karen Walsh commented: “Try magic eraser, mine lifted straight off and I’ve tried many products.”

Michelle Smith said: “We had a yellow stain on ours that never went away and used a magic eraser and it came straight off.”

Unlike most abrasive cleaners, a magic eraser is safe to use when scrubbing.

Heidi Gaskin wrote: “Try a cloth soaked in white vinegar and leave it on for a few hours.”

One user suggested making a paste out of bicarbonate of soda, toothpaste and water.

Helen Docherty said: “Make a paste with bicarbonate of soda, toothpaste and lukewarm water.

“Leave a few hours, then rub with a sponge.”
