Bradley Walsh clashes with Anne Hegerty after 'disastrous' blunder 'Not having that!'

The Chase host Bradley was rather embarrassed when both he and contestant Ed were stumped by a cryptic question on Friday evening’s show. Trivia queen Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty gave the correct answer, and the ITV quiz show screeched to a halt as the presenter demanded to know how she got it.

Ed, the first player on the latest episode, was asked to identify the subject of Samin Nosrat’s book, ‘Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat’.

The contestant thought it may have been referring to physical exercise, though in reality, it is a popular cookery book.

Bradley stood behind Ed’s answer, however, as he was confused why acid would be used in cooking.

The presenter reasoned: “Got to be acid, like lactic acid, yeah?”

The Chase’s frontman disagreed, and argued he wouldn’t class them as acids.

“Aww, man. Disaster,” he moaned when he realised his mistake, and apologised profusely to Ed before sending him home.

Anne then goaded: “Always nice to get the first one out!”

Ed’s last question was clearly still a sore point for Bradley, though, and he shot back at Anne’s boast.

“Really? Acid? Vinegar?” he exclaimed. “No, I’m not having that!

“Don’t start nodding Alice, I’m on your side,” he warned the next contestant when she started supporting Anne.

After a challenging four rounds, James and Lynn were the final two contestants and managed to swindle Anne out of £63,000.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
