Real Madrid ‘plot audacious swoop for BOTH Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland next summer’… and Los Blancos ‘hold the edge over Man City, Barcelona and Bayern Munich due to Florentino Perez’s strong rapport with Dortmund chief’

  • Real Madrid believe they can land both Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland
  • Mbappe, 23, is strongly linked with a Los Blancos move when his contract ends
  • Haaland, 21, is the subject of widespread interest from clubs across Europe
  • LaLiga chief Javier Tebas says that Madrid can sign both stars next summer
  • Marca reports that the Haaland deal could cost £400million over five years

Real Madrid are confident they can pull off an audacious double swoop for Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland next summer, with LaLiga chief Javier Tebas confirming that Los Blancos are financially capable of landing both stars.

The Spanish giants have been strongly linked with a move for Mbappe at the end of the season. The Frenchman’s contract with PSG expires in six months and there is no indication that he will sign a new deal.

Mbappe, 23, hinted that he has his heart set on a move to the Bernabeu earlier this month, claiming that he prioritises ‘experiences over money’ in a clear indication that he has Madrid on his mind.

And according to Marca, Carlo Ancelotti’s side are lining up a second big money move next summer, this time for Norwegian hotshot Haaland.

The 21-year-old’s 76 goals in 75 games for Borussia Dortmund has seen him linked with a host of top clubs in Europe, and his agent Mino Raiola has named Man City, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Madrid as possible destinations for the striker.

Haaland will be available for a cut-price fee of £64million next summer due to a release clause in his contract, and LaLiga president Tebas said: ‘Real Madrid have the capacity to sign Mbappe and Haaland.’

According to German outlet Bild, a deal for Haaland could be decided by the end of February to allow Dortmund time to scout out a replacement, although they have not given up hope of him signing a new £260,000-per-week deal.

A bitter war between Madrid and cash-strapped rivals Barca over Haaland is expected, while City boss Pep Guardiola is desperate for a new striker.

But the Spanish report suggests that Madrid could have the edge over their rivals due to their strong relationship with the Bundesliga side.

Dortmund chief Aki Watzke is understood to be good friends with his counterpart Jose Angel Sanches as well as Madrid president Florentino Perez.

Marca also claims that Watzke believes Haaland is more likely to move to a LaLiga club instead of the Premier League, and he would like to see the Norwegian win LaLiga in the club’s famous white shirt.

While the striker’s transfer price of £64m appears relatively cheap, commissions paid to Raiola and his father Alf-Inge, as well as a lucrative wage paid over a five-year contract could see the deal cost around £400m.

With star striker Karim Benzema turning 35 next year, Madrid are prioritising attack as an area to strengthen next summer, and the signings of both Mbappe and Haaland could set them up for years to come.
