Premier League Boxing Day fixtures – full list of every cancelled match

Premier League fixtures have been postponed regularly over the past few weeks, as the number of positive Covid tests continues to creep upward across the country. The league’s annual Boxing Day matches are now also facing cancellation.

Boxing Day is always a special time of the year for football fans, with a festive feast of matches throughout the day.

Each year there are usually at least eight Premier League matches on December 26, as well as a full schedule in the Championship, League One, and League Two.

It’s a day designed for families to get together and watch football; either at their local stadium, or on TV.

But the rising number of coronavirus cases in the UK has thrown the calendar into chaos.

A Premier League statement read: “Following postponement requests from Leeds United and Watford as a result of COVID-19, the Premier League Board met this morning and regrettably agreed to call off the two affected clubs’ Boxing Day fixtures.

“The League is aware that the decision to postpone these two matches will disappoint supporters and understands their frustrations at a special time of year when fans look forward to attending and watching football games.

“The League aims to provide as much clarity as possible, but unfortunately postponements sometimes have to be made at short notice, as safety is the priority.

“The League will endeavour to keep supporters updated if matches become at risk on a matchday.”
