I kinda hear you, but I think it’s less about “how the mighty have fallen”, and more so due to the fact that excellent deals can be found all year round now. With bundles, keysellers (legit ones, like GMG/Fanatical/etc), and just plain regular sales, gaming on the cheap is easier than ever. I think our idealized perception of the good ol’ days of Steam Sales is skewed thanks to the frequent 50-75% off sales we can find regularly now.
I do think the old flash sales might have had an edge on some games getting deeper sales than they’d get normally, even compared to today. But, by-and-large I think we’re in an incredible time for game deals. I’ll literally never get through all the games I have anyway lol.
