Earlier this year the James Bond franchise was bought by Amazon in a monumental takeover worth more than $8 billion. Amazon purchased Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) in an attempt to diversify their entertainment properties, and since then, it has been speculated the 007 series would be transitioning to a streaming model, rather than wide cinematic releases. Daniel Craig isn’t happy about this notion, however.
Craig recently starred in his fifth and final Bond movie, No Time To Die, where he capped off his story once and for all.
Beyond that, the future of the series is a mystery. But considering Amazon is heavily pushing their streaming service, Amazon Prime Video, they will likely want some 007 content for their dedicated viewers.
Craig has now broken his silence on the matter, saying: “One of the greatest things that’s happened is we got this movie into the cinema. That’s where Bond movies should be. They don’t look so good on a phone.
“They look great on an IMAX screen. It looks great on a 30ft screen. And they are family events. It gets the family out.” (Via The Sun)

By November, No Time To Die had earned more than $730 million at the worldwide box office, making it the highest-grossing film of the pandemic.
It has only just been beaten by Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is projected to surpass $1 billion before the year is out.
Craig added: “As long as there’s event movies like this then cinema’s got a chance of surviving.”
The 53-year-old also gave some stark advice for the next Bond actor.
Despite how popular they are, Page and Hardy are certainly not guaranteed the role just yet, especially with the likes of a Witcher behind them.
Yes, Superman actor Henry Cavill is hot on their heels with an impressive 6/1, and it sounds like he has already been thinking about taking on the 007 role.
He said earlier this year: “Time will tell. You don’t know which direction they want to take Bond in and so I like to say that everything’s always on the table.”
The three Bond favourites are also being tailed by an underdog in British acting.
Henry Golding is also a massively popular candidate for the role, coming in at an impressive 16/1.
After starring in Crazy Rich Asians and Snake Eyes, the 34-year-old has proved he has what it takes to be the next suave, sophisticated, and tough 007.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Regé-Jean Page has been there or thereabouts at the head of the James Bond betting for the best part of 12 months now, although there are plenty of contenders hot on his heels, with Henry Golding being the latest name to see his odds slashed.”
James Bond No Time To Die is showing in cinemas and is available to rent now.
