Police search for man appearing in CCTV during arson attack at Chris Packham's house

The Springwatch host appeared to be targeted after a vehicle was set alight and “exploded” by his gate in October. The presenter, who has received death threats in the past over his animal activism, said at the time: “I will not be cowed, I will not buckle. “I cannot and will not let your intimidation sway me from my course.”

The attack took place at the home Packham, 60, shares with partner Charlotte Corney and stepdaughter Megan in the New Forest, Hampshire. The fire destroyed two large wooden gates.

Describing the attack, Packham said: “Two hooded and masked men drove a vehicle right up to my gate and set it on fire. They were fully aware of the CCTV that was in place, they took great pains to hide themselves.”

Yesterday, detectives investigating the fire released a CCTV picture of a man they want to quiz. The image appears to show a dark-haired, hooded male exiting a silver car.
