Arsenal fans SLAM ‘absolute rubbish’ from club season ticket holder who labelled supporters ’embarrassing’ and criticised ‘shocking turnout’ and ‘whiny kids’ at Carabao Cup quarter-final win against Sunderland

Arsenal fans hit back at a season ticket holder at the club who labelled supporters ’embarrassing’ in the side’s 5-1 win against Sunderland in the League Cup quarter-finals.
Eddie Nketiah scored a hat-trick, while Nicolas Pepe and debutant Charlie Patino, 18, also netted as Arsenal qualified for the semi-finals of the competition – where they will face Liverpool – with ease.
The attendance at Emirates Stadium was recorded as 59,027, with 5,000 travelling Sunderland fans believed to have been in attendance.

But despite the Gunners’ comfortable victory, not all home supporters were satisfied, with one fan taking to Twitter to express his discontent at the ‘shocking turnout’ and ‘whiny kids’ at the game.
The Gunners supporter wrote: ‘Arsenal season ticket holder here. Don’t usually moan but a few pointers after tonight: Digest how you will.
‘Fairly shocking turnout from us tonight being a League Cup quarter-final (granted it is Christmas week, okay).
‘Our supporters are just so embarrassing. I was almost embarrassed to be an Arsenal fan tonight. Shining phone torches throughout the game as if they are at a concert, whiny kids who didn’t shut up (okay I was there once upon a time but continuous drivel from fans who have no real interest in the game, come on!!)

‘I can see now why many of my Dad’s mates don’t come anymore, and I don’t find it hard to blame them. Aside from that, fair play to each and every travelling Sunderland fan tonight.
‘Outsung us, and not one fan left before the end, even at 5-1 down. Fair play. Proper supporters,’ followed by an applause emoji.
However, not all fans took kindly to what was said, with many insisting the rising number of cases relating to the Omicron variant of coronavirus played its part in fans choosing not to attend Emirates Stadium on Tuesday evening.
One wrote: ‘This is just for clicks right because its quite easy to disagree. Now what sort of global event is hampering people’s desire, to not be in large crowds? I mean, it escapes my mind. Maybe you know?’

Another also said that the League Cup is also a great advertisement for new fans and with ticket prices around the £20 mark, is a ‘great opportunity’ for them.
He said: ‘League Cup is always a mixed bag of fans. It’s cheap and a great opportunity for new fans to come and watch. This coupled with the uncertainty, people don’t want to catch COVID before Christmas. This ”fan” clearly hasn’t got a clue.’
Others took issue with the fan’s description of fans as ’embarrassing’, with one adding: ‘Don’t get what’s so ’embarrassing’ about it.
‘Was literally just some fun started by a 12 year old at a family friendly match in which lots of the crowd were kids. Also if I recall correctly, you guys did it after we did no?’
Another user meanwhile added: ‘Absolute rubbish. I was there and it was a great atmosphere. Complaining about kids being at the game!?
‘Yeah it wasn’t full but we’re on the brink of another lockdown which has put off loads of people going. Give up your season ticket mate and let someone else have it!’
Another fan collated the respective arguments, stating: ‘1. A lot of people in London have Covid or are worried about getting it right before Christmas.
‘2. Children are children, none of them ever go to normal games anyway so who even cares.
‘3. If you and your dads mates love Sunderland fans so much why don’t you go support them lol.’
