'We are not fools' Fern Britton takes swipe at 'bumbling' Boris Johnson amid Omicron fears

As Omicron continues to spread across the UK, Boris Johnson, 57, issued an update to the public this afternoon. Following reports he could enforce more restrictions to help bring cases down imminently, he announced there would be no action just yet.

It comes after a Cabinet meeting was held to discuss the rise in cases earlier today.

Boris has said that while no further restrictions will be put in place for now, he wasn’t ruling it out completely.

Fern Britton, 64, reacted to his latest announcement on her Twitter page this evening.

In view of her 98,000 followers, she wrote: “Trying to stay positive even though I’m watching a bumbling, word salad spouting prime minister.

“We won’t hesitate to take action.

“But in the meantime, what I would say to everyone is please exercise caution as you go about your business.

“Please think about the guidance and protecting yourself and your loved ones and please get a booster.”

The Government and scientists say two doses of the Covid-19 jab, as well as the booster, is the best protection against the latest variant.

Fern previously questioned whether the coronavirus pandemic was “a con to control us”.

Back in January, she wrote on Twitter: “I believe Covid is a real and dangerous virus running amok amongst the world’s population and ruining the world’s economy.

“However, if this is all a con to control us, what is the end game? This is an authentic question.”

As expected, her comments divided fans with many disagreeing this was the case.
