'I hate him for that' Gary Barlow on Take That co-star Howard amid weight struggles

Gary Barlow, 50, has spoken out about his Take That co-star Howard Donald. The singer has suggested that he was once jealous of his bandmate amid his weight struggles.

The lyricist told Jay Rayner on his podcast, Out To Lunch, about his earliest days in Take That.

Gary said that out of the other singers in the boy band, he was closest to Howard, though there were hints of rivalry.

He also added that Howard had the kind of character and physique that would invite jealousy.

The former X-Factor judge explained: “I looked up to Howard, he was the one I was closest to in the 90s.

The singer said he did a lot of things that were not natural to him but that his colleagues would fall into without any effort.

“I suppose, underneath it all, it was a way of entertaining our crowd and getting the screams and the cheers and it was brilliant,” he said.

Gary then went on to discuss his “beef” with former bandmate Robbie Williams.

He explained that he would have to work a lot harder than Robbie to get the same amount of attention or recognition.
