Returnal Among The Least Finished Games of 2021

Well I expect nothing less with the way gamers are these days. This isn’t the “ 3 continues” generation. This isn’t even the Ninja Gaiden generation. More people from those gens probably beat Demon Souls, Bloodborne, Hades, and the like than any other. These gamers these days want easy street and want to FEEL like a badass without putting the time in.

Fighting games online? These are the guys that win ONE match, not a set, and leave. They are scared to lose or get figured out. Hell they put in auto combos these days because even developers figured it out.

Shooters? These are the guys that ONLY play with a full squad (almost full) of friends. Communication is powerful and they want to feel good playing against randoms.

Action games? RPGs? Why do you think so many games let you change the difficulty mid game these days? Gone are the days of choosing normal and hitting a wall you need to adapt to get better and overcome it. Hit that wall now, just change it to easy and pass it. Now change it back. Just look at Kena reviews.
Which is why returnal and a lot of those other games are unbeaten. The developers knew when they released it that it wasn’t for everyone. They know in order to beat returnal you have to stick with it. You can’t play once a week and get to the end. You lose some of the skill you gained. Your first cycle back is getting back to the skill you were at. That’s when you’re overwhelmed and turn it off. I don’t think I would have ever beat returnal or any of the other challenging games playing like that. I beat returnal in around 13 deaths. Screenshotted the computer when I got there. The game is phenomenal, must be played regularly (one cycle a day or more) so you don’t have to play relearning cycles and can get get straight into true runs. Do that and I’m sure you’ll beat it.

I’ve had my series X and gamepass day one and my PS5 day one. I’ve played a LOT of great games. While returnals story may be up for debate because of it being disjointed, the gameplay is not. The sound, the feel, the controls, the graphics, the entire package makes it one of the best games I’ve ever played and definitely my game of the year. It’s not for everyone, but that isn’t the games fault.

***just saw cyber shadow on the list. Loved it and beat that too. Once you unlock Parry it’s a cake walk. Very fun game too! What are gamers doing these days?!***
