The Queen's peculiar Christmas gift to Archie was Meghan's request – and 'he loves it'

Unlike other families, and following the German tradition, the royals open their presents on Christmas Eve.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry spent the festivities with the Royal Family in 2017 and 2018.

The Duchess of Sussex stayed at Sandringham and she reportedly chose a very unusual gift for the Queen: a singing toy hamster.

According to the royal biography Finding Freedom, Meghan Markle also gave Prince William a spoon with the words “cereal killer” on it.

It is believed the royals have a tradition of giving each other funny presents rather than expensive or glamorous items.

Last year, however, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex celebrated Christmas at their Montecito home, in Los Angeles.

Meghan requested a peculiar Christmas present Archie wanted from the Queen.

Prince Harry explained during an interview on James Corden’s The Late Late Show: “Interesting, my grandmother asked us what Archie wanted for Christmas, and Meg said a waffle maker.

“She sent a waffle maker for Archie.”

Prince Harry explained Meghan makes a “beautiful organic mixture”.

He also revealed that his son Archie “loves it”.

Prince Harry said: “Archie wakes up in the morning and goes ‘waffle’.”

“After being forced to cancel a host of engagements, the family get-together will be the perfect tonic.

“This year, more than ever, it is incredibly important to Her Majesty to be surrounded by her loved ones.

“The Queen is totally committed to hosting everyone as she hopes to make it back to full health in the coming weeks,” a source told The Mirror.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will spend Christmas in Los Angeles as a family of four after they welcomed their daughter Lili in June.
