Man Utd chief Joel Glazer has clear stance on Anthony Martial after past comments

Manchester United executive vice-chairman will be sad to see Anthony Martial go if the club decide to sell the Frenchman this January after the player’s agent revealed he wants out of Old Trafford as soon as possible. The American businessman is a long-time admirer of the 26-year-old, who was snapped up from Monaco way back in 2015 under Louis van Gaal.

Martial had started to make clear progress at United following the encouragement of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after mixed spells under the Dutchman and Jose Mourinho.

Following the sale of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan in 2019, Martial was handed the No 9 shirt after signing a new deal at Old Trafford.

What followed was Martial’s best season during his time at the club as he netted 17 Premier League goals.

Now he is way down the attacking pecking order following the signings of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho, having only started merely a handful of games this season.

There was even wild claims Glazer thought he was United’s answer to Pele.

It’s a distinct possibility that his loyalty towards Martial may have changed within the past two years of course, seeing as the goals have dried up.

Throughout his United career, Martial has enjoyed various stints both out wide and through the middle.

But now he currently looks lost and starved of all confidence.

He has only started four matches in the competition this season – twice in the Premier League, once in the Carabao Cup and Champions League, respectively.

Tottenham were previously linked with Martial in the summer transfer window when Harry Kane looked destined to quit the club for Man City.

Yet Spurs did not follow up their reported interest and have steered clear of any deal.

Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Atletico Madrid are the latest clubs tipped to be potential suitors.
