Tyson Fury warns Oleksandr Usyk 'I am coming' in Facetime call

Tyson Fury has fired a warning in the direction of heavyweight rival Oleksandr Usyk, telling the Ukrainian wizard ‘I am coming’ for his newly-earned collection of belts.  

Usyk, who claimed the WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight titles with victory over Anthony Joshua in September, is currently out in New York to support his fellow countryman Vasyl Lomachenko ahead of the lightweight’s clash against Richard Commey. 

Fury has made it clear it’s Usyk he would like to fight next, though it’s the Gypsy King’s long-term British rival Joshua who remains on course for an eagerly-anticipated rematch next year. 

Usyk was in the company of Fury’s trainer SugarHill Steward, who has Muhammad Ali’s grandson, Nico Walsh, fighting on the card in New York. 

Steward was able to connect the heavyweight duo, with Fury heard shouting: ‘Oleksandr the great! Tell Oleksandr, I am coming.’ 

Usyk, who was clearly amused by the situation, insisted the Gypsy King is not currently at the forefront of his thoughts, stating: ‘I am not think (about) Fury.’

Fury’s trainer Steward also weighed in, adding: ‘Tyson is just being Tyson. He loves the excitement and everything.’ 

While both Fury and Usyk have expressed an interest in fighting for the undisputed championship, the Ukrainian will most likely have to take on Joshua again, after the Brit activated his contractually-agreed rematch clause.

Joshua has hinted he would be willing to step aside and allow the pair to go head-to-head, however, so long as the price is right, an eventuality that would go down well with the Usyk camp. 

The Ukrainian’s manager Alexander Krassyuk told Sky Sports: ‘I heard that Joshua could consider stepping aside if the money is right as he feels respect to the division and is willing to let the undisputed heavyweight championship happen.

‘Usyk says that he can fight Fury next if the offer is right and if AJ allows to do so.’

Fury has also spoken of his desire to jump into a fight with Usyk next, with US promoter Bob Arum stating: ‘If Joshua decides not to exercise his rematch against Usyk and decides to step aside, the fight we would like to make is between Usyk and Fury.

‘Then Joshua can fight the winner of the undisputed fight. That’s what Tyson would like. And I represent Tyson. That is his preference.’

It now appears as if the two will not get their desired preference, after the WBC officially ordered Fury to defend his strap against mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte, following the conclusion of his legal battle with the sanctioning body. 

Arum has revealed talks are now underway for the bout to be made early next year.  

‘[Fury’s UK-based promoter] Frank Warren talked [on Wednesday] to Tyson who wants to get in the ring in February or March,’ Arum told Sky Sports. 

‘We are talking to Whyte now to come to an arrangement to put the fight on in the UK. It will be a splendid fight and we are working hard to put it together.’
