Rose Ayling-Ellis shares touching reason she prefers Ballroom: ‘Quality stands out’

The Strictly Come Dancing semi-finals saw the remaining four couples battle it out to secure their place in next week’s final. With each pair dancing twice, they all gave their all and put on a performance of a lifetime. After dancing the Waltz with partner Giovanni Pernice, EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis gave an emotional reason as to why she loved Ballroom and how emotional they both felt doing the dance.

After receiving their comments from the judges, Rose and Giovanni joined Claudia Winkleman to reflect on their performance.

Claudia asked: “You love Ballroom, how did you feel about the Waltz?”

Rose began: “I love the Waltz because it is quite a simple one, so the quality stands out more, so you have too really….”

Trying to find the right word, she turned to Giovanni and asked: “Do you know what I mean?” before continuing: “I really love Ballroom.

“The positions, yeah, the thing is I don’t have to count I can be more involved in the music and more involved in the dancing because when you’re counting….”

To which Claudia interrupted: “It’s quite hard, but this way you were following Gio, you were both quite emotional watching those messages of support, what does it mean for both of you to hear those?”

Rose said: “I think it makes us realise that it was more than dancing, we have been through and changed so many people’s lives.

“I think that’s why we got so emotional about it because it was very special,” she concluded.

“You have brought so much joy in everything you do, it’s quality personified, it’s just beautiful, and it warms our heart, thank you.”

After their Argentine Tango performance, their co-stars, judges, and audience were all standing on their feet to applaud their performance, including Rose’s EastEnders co-star Danny Dyer.

Motsi Mabuse said: “Oh my word! What a statement, for me personally, that was the dance of the night, the dance of the month, the dance of the series.

“Well done, Rose, well done, you two I fell in love with all the details, that’s it.”

Anton Du Beke also said: “Wow, I’m going to try and talk about this dance without getting all silly and emotional like I did in the Waltz.

“I loved your Waltz, this is way better than your Waltz, it was unbelievable! What I love about you is your so serene and calm.

“Anything you do, when you close your feet you close it was a calmness, you don’t slam your feet together because that’s the end of the step.

“It all comes together clean and lovely and calm, unruffled to go again, it’s just amazing I love it!”

When it came to Craig Revel Horwood’s comments, he simply said: “That dance belongs in the final.”

Strictly Come Dancing results show airs tonight at 7pm on BBC One, with the Strictly Come Dancing finals airing next Saturday on BBC One.
