'We hope she'll pull through' Andrew Neil inundated with support over 'bad news' at home

Former GB News Chairman Andrew Neil shared an update on his beloved dog, Molly, who he says is “seriously ill”. The renowned journalist promised his 1.1 million followers that he would keep them updated on Molly’s condition as fans sent in messages of support.

Andrew, 72, broke his “bad news” to his followers, who seemed heartbroken to hear that Molly was ill. 

The news legend shared a sweet picture of Molly curled up on a chair with her eyes closed and her head resting on a cuddly, owl-shaped cushion. 

He wrote: “Bad news. Ms Molly the Dog, the one and only star of BBC 1’s much missed This Week is seriously ill. 

“She is, of course, getting the best possible care and we hope she’ll pull through.

“Edward has just melted my heart. Thank you,” Andrew replied. 

“Sincere and heartfelt love to you and Susan…losing an animal is no lesser being when they are a part of the family…” Rene commented with a tearful emoji. 

Shane Levitt added: “Sorry to read this Andrew, It could be a tough day tomorrow, remember to be brave if you have to be. 

“We lost our boxer Digger in 2019 and in the end all we could do was make the pain stop but it still broke my heart.”

Jacqueline wrote: “Totally feel for you. Done the cushion on the floor many times for a furry ‘sibling’. 

“Always uncomfortable, yet all made totally worthwhile when a look is exchanged or their paw rests on you. 

“Hope Molly is feeling better soon. Glad she has a loving family around her.”

Jayne S added: “I did exactly the same with our beautiful black lab,stayed on the floor with him all night,sadly he didn’t survive the next day but I would do it over again if I had to. 

“Pets really are our most loyal best friends…” 

Andrew announced he was stepping down as Chairman of GB News on 13 September 2021 despite masterminding the launch of the channel and has since referred to his time there as “the single biggest mistake” of his career.
