Jason Momoa has confirmed that production has wrapped on Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom.

The 42-year-old actor is returning as the eponymous superhero in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) sequel and took to Instagram on Thursday to inform his fans that production is now complete, with just over a year to go until the film is released.

In his video, Jason said: ‘Aw man, that’s a wrap. That’s a wrap, Aquaman 2. I have so much to share with you, I wish… I could tell you so much. What an epic day. I love you.

‘So good to have been home to finish this, so many good surprises. Love you and… it’s been a long time. I’m taking a break. Aloha,’ he continued.

The Game Of Thrones breakout star filmed his bearded face in closeup as he strolled along a beach in Hawaii with the wind tousling his long hair, and he also advertised his sunglasses to his 16.6 million followers.

Filming for the highly anticipated superhero sequel also took him to the UK last month.

He was spotted there attending an afterparty after taking in the House Of Gucci UK premiere.

Momoa went through a grueling shoot for James Wan’s upcoming blockbuster — which will see the return of cast members Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II — and film chiefs were concerned when he tested positive for Covid-19 recently.

An insider told The Sun at the time: ‘It’s a real headache for the film’s bosses, who are now worrying about having to delay their tight filming schedule.

‘Of course the safety of everyone working on the film is the most important thing and everyone is tested regularly. They are hoping this is a one-off and that they can work around Jason and continue filming on the production.’

Momoa previously admitted that filming for the new blockbuster had been considerably more physically demanding than the first time around.

‘I’m getting old, is what’s happening,’ he explained on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in October.

‘I messed up my eyes. I just got something in it that kind of cut it up, and then I’ve got to get surgery, I have a hernia, I’ve got ribs out. I’m just — getting beat up,’ he continued.

‘I just kind of give it. I love my job and I get a little too excited, then the age thing, you know, I’m an aging superhero right now.’

Success story: Momoa was a recent fan favorite in Denis Villeneuve's sci-fi hit Dune, which performed well enough to warrant a second film; seen in October in London

In addition to starring in the first Aquaman, which earned over $1 billion at the box office, Momoa previously played the superhero in 2017’s Justice League, which was rereleased in a new four-hour cut in March that was helmed by Zach Snyder.

The hunky actor was most recently seen on the big screen in the first part of Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Dune, which also stars Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya and Oscar Isaac.

The science fiction film became a surprise hit buoyed by the popularity of IMAX screening and other premium formats, despite being available on release day to HBO Max subscribers.

The film has now got the green light to produce a second film, which will cover the back half of Frank Herbert’s iconic novel.
