New Covid travel passes for 12-15-year-olds could make international travel easier

An NHS Covid travel pass will soo be made available to 12-15-year-olds who are fully vaccinated. It comes after parents have complained of holiday disruption in countries such as Spain, Germany and Malta, as they require proof that anyone over 12 has had both vaccines to enter. Since the NHS Covid pass app is only available to those aged 16 and over, it is said the Government is looking into creating Covid travel passes for those 12-15.

But civil servants at the Department of Health are said to be still working on the project.

At the moment, it can be difficult for families to visit Italy, Austria, France and Canada as they require a vaccine pass for entry into public areas – this often includes hospitality venues, such as ski lifts.

It comes as Stephen Smith, a parent of a 12-year-old who has had the first does of the Pfizer jab spoke about the possible letter.

He said: “This is long overdue but excellent news, albeit it appears that it will initially not be a digital solution.

As for the side effects some children may experience from the Covid vaccine, the NHS lists common side effects as:

Most side effects are mild and should only last one or two days, such as:

• a sore arm from the injection

• feeling tired

• a headache

• feeling achy

• flu-like symptoms including shivering (chills)

Children should rest and you can give them paracetamol to help make them feel better.
