Leeds chief Victor Orta restrained from fiery confrontation in stands after Brentford draw

Leeds director of football Victor Orta had to be held back after completely losing his temper in the director’s box after the Whites snatched a draw with a 95th-minute equaliser against Brentford. Marcelo Bielsa’s side looked to be heading for defeat before Patrick Bamford marked his return to action with a late goal to earn the hosts a point.

Yet despite the feeling of relief, tensions boiled over in Yorkshire as Orta was spotted losing his rag at the full-time whistle.

Cameras panned to Orta, who was furiously ranting and pointing further along the stand.

But Orta wasn’t prepared to let whatever upset him go lightly as he tried to move towards the perpetrator.

He was later restrained by Angus Kinnear, who did not want Orta to land himself in hot water.

Despite a social media inquest, the reasons behind Orta’s fury remain unknown.

Leeds are now up to 14th after earning the valuable point.

The Whites are now unbeaten in three matches following a difficult start to the season which saw them facing the unexpected prospect of a relegation fight.

But Bielsa is slowly starting to welcome back a number of key players from injury, including last season’s top scorer Bamford.

Leeds were ahead in the first half when Tyler Roberts opened his account for the campaign.

But Brentford, who have started life in the Premier League impressively, fought back after the interval to turn the game around.

The Bees were without Ivan Toney but that didn’t stop them from causing the Leeds defence problems as Shandon Baptiste netted the equaliser.

Sergi Canos then put his side in front to crank up the tension inside Elland Road.

However, Leeds were prepared to fight until the very end and they got their reward when Bamford turned in from a last-gasp corner.

Goalkeeper Islan Mellier had come up for the kick and noise was deafening as the ball hit the net.
