Fortnite matchmaking error: Fans told they don't have permission after server overload

Fortnite players are currently unable to login and play Battle Royale Chapter 3.

The Fortnite servers are currently at full capacity, meaning players can’t experience the new season.

Fans attempting to login are being told that there is currently no room on the servers, or that they don’t have permission to play Fortnite.

The problem seems to be at its worst when trying to join a game and the servers attempt matchmake.

“We’re all out of buses. Don’t worry, a few are on their way back,” reads an Epic Games message.

Fortunately, it looks like the issues will be fixed shortly, with some players able to join the game after restarting.

Epic has acknowledged the issue, explaining that logins, purchases and matchmaking may be delayed.

“We’re aware that log-ins, purchases, partying up, and matchmaking may be delayed. We’ll provide an update when this has returned to normal,” Epic explains.

Needless to say, the issues aren’t going down well with fans, who have complained about the problems on social media.

“Fortnite is now up and working for ps4/ps5! The only thing not working at the moment is matchmaking,” one fan tweets.

Other users have tried restarting the game, only to be kicked back to the downtime screen.

“I started fortnite a few minutes ago (0930est) and it opened with the new season pass cinematic thingy, and then gobs of quests and challenges, which is what I like. However, matchmaking wasn’t working so I restarted the game and it’s back to my dude floating on the log.”

Finally, one player suggests trying a different game mode: “If you having matchmaking errors play imposters it works.”
