2022 NYPD K9 and Friends calendar has tails wagging

This calendar will have tails wagging.

More than a dozen dogs and other animals — most named after fallen officers — are featured in a series of photos in the 2022 NYPD K9 and Friends calendar.

The newest edition features the department’s first-of-its-kind emotional support canines —  Piper and Jenny — for the month of April.

The two golden retrievers are used by the NYPD’s Employee Assistance Unit, “helping break down traditional mental health stigmas and assisting members of the service in times of need,” according to the calendar.

A K9 named Stannish, named after Sgt. Matt Stannish and the first sergeant canine, is featured in May posing in front of NYPD headquarters at One Police Plaza in the company of Officer Sgt. Jezsek. The duo patrol the city’s subways, “keeping millions of riders safe each day,” the calendar notes.

And the NYPD’s first Electronic Storage Detection Canines, adorable black labs Hugh and Louie, who are capable of detecting computer chips and storage devices to retrieve evidence, appear in the month of November.
