The office of US Vice President Kamala Harris is said to be in “complete turmoil” after a number of senior members resigned. Washington Examiner Editor-in-Chief Hugo Gurdon has told Fox News there is a “clean sweep” going on within the Vice President’s operation as chief spokeswoman, Symone Sanders, was the latest aide to leave the West Wing. Mr Gurdon linked the turnover in staff to Ms Harris’s poor approval numbers.
Mr Gurdon told Fox News Business: “It’s complete turmoil in the West Wing.
“I think that there’s a clean sweep going on.
“You’ve got Symone Sanders, as you say, you know, a month ago we heard that Ashley Etienne. the communications director was on her way out.
“Peter Velz, the head of press operations is on his way out.”
He continued: “Clearly, it’s very, very difficult to make the Vice President look competent.
“She’s in charge of the COVID-19 vaccination programme, which is not going well.
“She’s supposedly in charge of the illegal immigration crisis at the border, which is a total disaster.
“She’s in charge of the Space Council, just at the moment when Russia and China are making America look flat-footed in space.
It follows speculation that various Democrat party donors are in favour of Pete Buttigieg, US Secretary of Transportation, replacing Ms Harris on the 2024 Presidential ticket.
Last week, Fox News contributor Joe Concha said: “Behind the scenes, donors really, really want Pete Buttigieg.
“Forget Vice President they want him to be the nominee in 2024 at the top of the ticket.
“Because you look at the President’s poll numbers, barely more than one-third of the country approves of this President’s performance, twenty-eight percent approve of Kamala Harris – that is not a winning ticket.”
