Royal workouts: Three of the Royal Family's most trusted exercise routines

Kate, Duchess of Cambridge regularly appears at sporting events as a working member of the Royal Family, and she has been known to dally in sports while out on royal engagements. Equally, Kate’s sister Pippa Middleton is a sports enthusiast, while Meghan Markle has frequently addressed her love for certain workouts in the past. Read on to find out more about the exercise regimes of Kate, Meghan and Pippa.

Kate, Duchess of Cambridge

Kate is known to be one of the Royal Family’s sportiest members, joining rowing teams and going on skiing holidays in the past.

And now she’s a working member of the Royal Family, and a busy mother of three, Kate is still thought to enjoy a daily workout.

Kate is known to be a keen runner, with the Duchess thought to enjoy long runs around Norfolk when she stays at her country residence of Anmer Hall.

A royal insider once told the Daily Mail: “Kate is an exercise junkie.

“Pippa and Kate take their toned physiques extremely seriously. And mother Carole, in her 60s, is in extremely good shape.”

According to the source, Kate is a fan of planking to tighten her muscles.

And the Duchess is also thought to enjoy the fitness trend CrossFit, a varied workout performed at a high intensity.

Meghan Markle

Meghan Markle’s mother Doria Ragland is a yoga instructor, so it’s understandable why Meghan is now such a fan of the workout.

Yoga is associated with several health benefits and is considered a great workout for both the body and the mind.

Back in 2015, Meghan told Best Health: “Yoga is my thing. My mom is a yoga instructor, and I started doing mommy-and-me yoga with her when I was seven.

“I was very resistant as a kid, but she said, ‘Flower, you will find your practice – just give it time.’ In college, I started doing it more regularly.”

The Duchess of Sussex has also previously indicated that she is a fan of running, pilates and home-workout DVDs.

Pippa Middleton

Like her sister Kate, Pippa Middleton is known to be a sporting enthusiast and she takes her exercise seriously.

Pippa once told Waitrose for her ’10-week tone up’ that “fitness and health have always been of core importance” to her.

Pippa is known to be a running enthusiast, and she recently addressed how she fits fitness into her busy schedule as a mother of two.

As a HOKA Athlete Ambassador, Pippa gave a rare interview to the exercise brand earlier this year.

She said: “More recently, over the past two years, family life and motherhood has consumed much of my spare time and unsurprisingly the challenges I thrived on have taken a back seat.

“Running and fitness still form part of my weekly routine but not to the level it was before.

“I suppose, my running has been more after babies and toddlers than crossing finish lines, which I’m fine with — for now!”

Pippa said she enjoys bike-riding, buggy running and trips to the park or playground with her children to keep active.
