‘Highly pathogenic’ bird flu outbreak VERY close to UK – list of possible symptoms

Bird flu, also known as avian flu, is a type of influenza that mainly spreads among birds, the NHS reports. However, in some cases, this type of flu can also be passed to humans. The main symptoms can come on very quickly.

All of the birds at the infected farm in a town called Warhem will be killed.

The farm will be then disinfected to prevent the spread of the virus.

There has also been a 10-kilometre surveillance perimeter set up and movement of all poultry is prohibited in this area.

This is the first outbreak found on a French farm since last winter.

DON’T MISS

Not all cases of bird flu infect humans, but the ones which do can be accompanied by a list of possible symptoms.

Those symptoms include:

  • Very high temperature or feeling hot or shivery
  • Aching muscles
  • Headache
  • Cough or shortness of breath
  • These four symptoms are the main symptoms linked to avian flu.

Some other symptoms you might experience can range from diarrhoea to bleeding from the nose and gums, the NHS reports.

However, the French ministry shared yesterday that consumption of poultry and eggs doesn’t present a risk to humans.

This news comes after cases of bird flu have also been detected in the UK.

One case of bird flu was found in a swan in Nottinghamshire, while another case was detected on Leicestershire farm.

The UK Government has said transmission of bird flu to humans poses a low risk.
