Tom and Amy performed their Couple’s Choice to On My Own from the musical Les Miserables.
The routine felt flat to the judges and so when it came to the dance-off, they chose to save Rhys and Nancy.
Talking about the judges commenting that he wasn’t emotional enough during the performance, Tom said on It Takes Two: “I felt that was quite difficult going into the dance-off, feeling like, ‘Well I can either give the judges what they want or I can stay true to the story’.
“And I just thought, that’s what the story is – all the lifts that were choreographed that it was unrequited love so every time Amy came to me to be lifted it was me pushing Amy away, so I felt like that was the story we were trying to tell and it’s such a well-loved musical that I wanted to do that story justice.”
