BT TV offers cheaper access to Sky TV than Sky itself – and there's FREE broadband too!

BT has launched some stellar deals for the Black Friday weekend, with free fibre broadband until next year and discounts that make it cheaper to watch Sky TV channels on BT TV than using Sky’s own Sky Q box. Yes, really! But with Black Friday already here, none of these deals will be around for much longer – so you’ll need to add one to your basket as soon as possible to lock in the discounted price. First up, BT’s Black Friday savings can be applied to any of its broadband packages. So, regardless of whether you only want to pay for its basic Fibre Essentials plan (38Mbps) or you’ve got a busy household with people streaming in 4K Ultra HD in every room and need the eye-waveringly fast Full Fibre 500 (with download speeds of 500Mbps – around 7x faster than the average home broadband connection), you’ll get free bills for the first three months. BT has even waived its usual postage and set-up costs, so nothing will leave your bank account until March 2022 or so. And if you want to upgrade your telly, BT’s new flexible TV packages, which bundles fibre broadband, a Netflix subscription, and access to exclusive Sky TV channels via NOW, in one single package, offers savings over Sky itself. When compared to comparable bundles from Sky, the BT deal will save you a little over £60. Woah!

For that, you’ll get the excellent BT TV box, which lets you pause and rewind live television, stream from some of the biggest video on-demand services, including Netflix and Prime Video. If you want to slash your Sky TV bills, we’d recommend BT’s Entertainment + Fibre 2 deal, which includes access to Netflix’s vast library of boxsets and movies, the NOW Entertainment Pass (which includes Sky Atlantic, Sky Comedy, Sky Documentaries, and more for exclusive shows like Mare Of Easttown, Game Of Thrones, Succession, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, Framing Britney Spears, Brassic, and more), all Freeview channels, as well as BT exclusive channel AMC (the network behind The Walking Dead and other hit US shows) and broadband with an average 67Mbps speed.

This usually costs £48.99 per month, but BT has cut the price to just £8 a month for the first three months. After that, it rises to the usual £48.99. As part of its Black Friday savings, you can also add in a free one-month subscription to Amazon’s Prime Video. If you decide to stick with the streaming service beyond that first month, you’ll have to start paying the usual £5.99 monthly fee. But if you want to binge-watch Clarkson’s Farm or The Boys in the next four weeks – you can do so without paying a penny.

And unlike Sky, BT lets you switch parts of your deal each month, hence the “flexible” part of the name.

The comparable bundle from Sky offers the same exclusive Sky TV channels via its rival Sky Q box, broadband speeds of 59Mbps, and a Netflix subscription for £43 a month. There’s also a £49 set-up fee. The BT deal runs for 24 months, while the Sky plan runs for 18 months. However, comparing how much both plans would cost over the length of the 18 month period the Sky deal runs, the BT package offers a saving of £64.15 in total.
