Mrs Hinch shares 59p hack to clean a mattress stain ‘Works really well!’

Mrs Hinch, real name Sophie Hinchliffe, has inspired millions to enjoy the sometimes arduous task that is cleaning. A few years ago she appeared on ITV’s This Morning and revealed her hack for removing stains from a mattress.

Speaking to Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, Mrs Hinch said: “Any unwanted stains, smells on your mattress, the way to clean them is to apply bicarbonate powder.

“If you’ve got children and they’ve had accidents on the bed, it works really well.”

The first step is to strip the bed of any bedding.

Mrs Hinch then revealed what to do next: “Sprinkle it on the area.

“You can rub it in with a latex glove.

“Once it’s been left on there for up to an hour, you just hoover it off.”

She recommends using the cold setting on the hoover for the final step.

With more than 4.1 million followers on Instagram, Mrs Hinch explained why she uses this particular product.

She said: “For those asking why I use bicarb and what does it do, it’s an odour eliminator.

“So any odours that may be lingering in the mattress it just soaks them up and absorbs them. It works really, really well.”

It was The Pink Stuff’s Oxi Stain Remover spray.

There were several cleaning fanatics who all swore by Mrs Hinch’s original hack.

Hazel Mallen said: “Dampen the mattress then sprinkled with bicarbonate of soda.”

Karen Holten added: “Bicarbonate of soda ….but first wet area with some water and white vinegar ..sprinkle with bicarb then leave to dry and hoover off.”
