Paul McCartney does hilarious Elvis impersonation in The Beatles Get Back with John Lennon

Mal Evans, a personal assistant to The Beatles, sees McCartney giving his best take on The King and wanders over, pointing out that the day before, January 8, was The King’s birthday.

Macca announces this news to Lennon with much joy, “Elvis’ birthday yesterday!”, before Mal pointed out The Beatles’ inspirer had just turned 34-years-old.

That summer, after the success of his 1968 Comeback special, The King returned to live performances with his first Las Vegas residency at the International Hotel, that even included a Beatles melody of Yesterday and Hey Jude.

Celebrating Elvis’ 34th birthday, McCartney sang into the microphone: “God bless our gracious King!”
