Halo Infinite Team Is Listening To Constructive Feedback, But Admits Changes Will Take Time

“This isn’t their first stab at multiplayer”

It always irks me so bad when I read shit like this.

Dude have you ever so much as taken a stab at coding something? Like just straight up lines of code running logic. With just straight up code, the same coding concept will have to be adapted per project depending on the structure of your other classes that are working AROUND that code. Add on top of that that you are dealing with new meshes, new materials, new rendering concepts, new physics model, ect ect, and it doesn’t matter how many fucking times you coded the same concept, the fifth time will still be just as painful to get right considering the gargantuous amount of wheels turning that you need to sync with to get your code to work.

Im not even fucking getting into the design yet, like getting a character to walk just right, the right amount of velocity, multiplied the right way with the strenght of your axis, applying the right friction on the ground at all angles, ect ect. And dont even get me started on just straight up basic human interactions that can screw things up, things like ego’s, chain of command, lack of chemistry between teammates, bad communication, ect ect.

Dude you have beyond no idea how complicated game development actually is. Like none whatsoever. Consider that, John Carmack, a LITERAL FUCKING ROCKET SCIENTIST told a room full of Nasa scientist that as much fun as he had doing rocket science stuff, game dev was exponentially more complicated in comparison.

343/microsoft being “greedy” is a completely different point. Arguing the moral value of their battle pass system is something else. But saying “This isnt their first stab at this” as proof that the only differentiating factor this time is the monetization is the dumbest shit you can argue. It doesn’t matter if it was their 30th stab at something, it’ll still be a fucking painful process to get done, no matter the amount of expertise present at the table. Game dev is hard beyond what you believe.
