Ant and Dec issue apology after I'm A Celebrity hosts suffer awkward error live on-air

It comes after the Geordie duo addressed new show arrivals Adam Woodyatt and Simon Gregson who joined their fellow campmates during tonight’s episode.

Ant began: “You’ll remember when we went into camp at the end of last night’s show we told the celebs that all 10 of them will be down for a trial.”

Dec then said: “It was not er…[inaudible],” as the presenter clearly messed up his lines.

The ITV favourite struggled to get his words out as the backstage crew could be heard laughing at Dec’s live on-air blunder.

“What was it,” Ant interjected, as he turned to his co-host in shock.

Correcting himself, Dec went on: “It wasn’t long before they were joined by two new arrivals, Corrie star Simon [Gregson] and EastEnders’ Adam [Woodyatt].”

Taking to Twitter, the pair addressed the error, in view of their 6.7 million followers.

Ant and Dec penned: “Sorry ‘bout that! Got my wrong teeth in.”

“It happens. Love it when you guys slip up,” Carly Ennis said.

Sarah added: “Love it when you do things like that though.”

Elsewhere, show contestant Richard Madeley quit I’m A Celebrity after the Good Morning Britain presenter was taken to hospital.

Medics on the ITV show entered the camp at Gwrych Castle in north Wales early on Thursday and called an ambulance.

Posting online today, Richard said: “I started to feel briefly unwell in the small hours of the morning and was taken to hospital as a precaution.”

He must now leave the show because he has broken its Covid safety bubble.

The 65-year-old said he had “had the time of my life” on the programme and was “gutted” to be unable to re-join, but stressed that the “safety of all the campmates is the number one priority”.

He wrote: “I’m incredibly excited to watch their journey continue… even more so at the prospect of being somewhere a little warmer than Gwrych Castle.

“Thank you to everyone who supported me on my brief but completely unforgettable adventure – I’ve made some great friends.”

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! airs weeknights on ITV at 9pm.
