New elderly driving licence proposals are 'petty, lazy and discriminatory'

“I personally have over 40 years incident-free motoring and this year is the first time in many that my insurance has been less than the previous.

“But then why should all of a sudden, should I be subjected to forced conditions of where when and how far I can drive when the people [whose] idea it is do not even know me or my ability.”

Reader Ian of Kent added: “Whilst I support the idea, I think the age threshold is wrong.

“I’m in my 60’s, in August I drove across France, I [am] fully capable a driver as a 30-year-old, and with 40 years driving experience, possibly safer too.
