The seplet – consisting of Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook – were in utter disbelief as their name was called and the crowd of loyal followers whom they refer to as the BTS Army roared.

Rapper of the group, RM, was the spokesperon most of the night and was at a loss for words as he said: ‘I seriously forgot what I had to say. Thank you, AMAs. And we’re truly honored to be on this stage with such amazing, tremendous artists right over here.

‘We’re so honored. Thanks for that. Whoo! I’m nervous. Yeah, I’m nervous. Yeah, baby. Four years ago, we gave this first time ever TV live performance on this stage, the AMAs. And we were, like, too excited started and nervous at the time. It’s been a long and amazing time since that.’

He went on to say that the odds were stacked against them to capture this success and that nobody believed in them other than the BTS Army.

‘Seven boys from Korea, united by a love for music. Without the love and support from all the Armies all over the world. This whole thing is a miracle. Seriously, we’ll never take this for granted. Thank you so much. I love y’all. Want to give this honor to you guys.’

It was a night to remember for the most famous music group in the world as earlier they earned favorite pop group or duo.

The boyband gave all credit to the BTS Army during their speech as during the acceptance speech RM said: ‘Thank you so much. And this means to us even more because we were actually a small boy band from Korea.

‘We just got united by the love for our music. And all we want to do is just spread love, good vibes, and energy through music and performance. But without you guys, army, it could have never done nothing. Thank you so much. Appreciate it. Thank you.’

As it was their night, BTS ended the event with a performance of their chart-topping hit Butter.

One thing was missing, however, as earlier in the day Megan Thee Stallion announced that she would no longer be attending nor performing at the show as she was originally slated to close it out with BTS.

The 26-year-old Grammy-winning rapper took to twitter to reveal the last minute change and cited an ‘unexpected personal matter’ as the reason for her absence.

She wrote: ‘Hotties I was so excited to go to the @AMAs and perform with @BTS_official, but due to an unexpected personal matter, I can no longer attend. I’m so sad! I really can’t wait to hit the stage with my guys and perform #BTS_Butter real soon!’

Earlier in the night BTS had joined Coldplay for collaborative track My Universe from the British band’s latest album Music Of The Spheres.

Pop newcomer Olivia Rodrigo had the most nominations at the event with seven as she already has a catalog of chart-topping hits but was only able to come away with one win in the coveted new artist of the year category.

The 18-year-old star beat out 24kGoldn, Giveon, Masked Wolf, and The Kid LAROI for the honor.

When her name was called she shared a tender moment with close friend and fellow songwriter, Conan Gray, before hitting the stage.

While there were plenty of solid performances from artists old and new – including everyone from Olivia Rodrigo to New Kids on the Block – it was J-Lo that got tongues wagging.

She started off in an elegant gown behind an orchestra to sing her new song On My Way, from her upcoming romantic comedy Marry Me, also starring Owen Wilson.

Suddenly, the 52-year-old pulled off a very impressive ‘quick change’ trick as she switched to a wedding dress.

However, there was no sign of her beau Ben Affleck at the event, who perhaps stayed home instead of appearing in the audience.

Making no mistake of her wedding-theme routine, she finished off by throwing her veil into the audience like a bouquet of flowers.
